I was born in 1948 at Putnam, Connecticut. My family moved to Florida in 1959, eventually settling in Miami, where I graduated from Miami Coral Park Senior High School in 1966.
In 1970, I graduated from the University of Florida with a BSBA, majoring in accounting.
For the next 20 years I was a United States Air Force officer. My assignments were to Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro NC, Tan Son Nhut AB in Saigon RVN (but I spent a lot of time at Danang AB), Clark AB, PI (though I spent all of this time at Ubon RTAFB, Thailand), Pope AFB in Fayetteville NC, and Gunter AFS in Montgomery AL, as an auditor. After a year and a half back in Gainesville, I received a MS from the University of Florida Industrial and Systems Engineering department, majoring in computer science. As a computer staff officer, I was at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery AL, the Pentagon in Washington DC, and Offutt AFB in Omaha NE. I retired with the rank of Major.
